SigAlerts cleared in O.C. freeway crashes
A SigAlert following a seven-car pileup on the 605 in Seal Beach has been called off, and a second SigAlert in Laguna Hills was also just cleared following a brush fire at the side of the I-5, officials said.
Several motorists involved in the seven-car crash were transported to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center with unknown injuries, said California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada.
At 6:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol officers responded to 911 calls from motorists who witnessed the crash on the 605 just north of the I-405.
The SigAlert in Laguna Hills on the northbound I-5 near La Paz Road was issued after a brush fire ignited at the side of the freeway, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Greg McKeown.
The fire was reported at 7:03 p.m. and consumed a quarter acre before it was contained about 20 minutes later. Twenty firefighters were on scene.
