Warnings throughout Southern California as Santa Ana winds push through
A low-pressure system pushing Santa Ana winds from the desert into Southern California will linger through Tuesday, with gusts in some areas forecast to reach 60 mph to 65 mph, the National Weather Service said Sunday.
High wind warnings were in place with warnings of difficult driving conditions for large vehicles on several roadways, including the 5 and 14 freeways in Los Angeles County.
For the Inland area, winds will hit the 15, 10, and 215 freeways and the 210 Freeway below the Cajon Pass, the NWS said.
Damaging winds can blow down large objects including trees and power lines, and power outages are expected, the NWS said.

The warning for Los Angeles County mountains will continue to 3 p.m. Monday with northerly winds forecast at 25 mph to 40 mph, with gusts up to 65 mph, the NWS said.
For the Santa Monica Mountains, the warning was until 3 p.m. Monday, with travel affected on canyon roads leading to beach areas. The NWS forecasts the same wind speeds as for Los Angeles County mountains.
The high wind warning was set for the Inland area Sunday evening through noon Tuesday.
The northeasterly winds will course over the mountains in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Orange counties as well as through the San Gorgonio Pass in the Beaumont-Banning area, with winds of 25 mph to 35 mph and gusts up to 60 mph.
The NWS on Sunday afternoon added wind advisories for the Los Angeles-Long Beach area and the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys until 3 p.m. Monday, and until noon Tuesday for Orange County coastal and inland areas.
Off the coast, winds were strong enough to generate a gale warning through early Monday for outer waters including San Clemente Island, with a small craft advisory through Monday afternoon for inner coastal waters, including Santa Catalina Island, the NWS said.
The winds coming off the desert will bring warmer temperatures and dry weather to the area through Tuesday.
Some high and low Monday temperature forecasts include: Los Angeles, 77 and 50; Woodland Hills, 70 and 46; Whittier, 76 and 47; Long Beach 74 and 48; Santa Ana 78 and 48; Huntington Beach 77 and 50; Riverside 72 and 43; and San Bernardino, 72 and 44.
Then the wind will change Wednesday, coming from the ocean and bringing cooler temperatures, with a chance for showers on Thursday before the wind changes direction yet again, and resumes from desert to ocean.
Next weekend looks “unsettled” the NWS said.
