Beverly Hills police catch armed robbery suspect after 3-hour search
BEVERLY HILLS — Police closed off streets and stores were locked down Saturday night as police spent about three hours searching before arresting an armed robbery suspect, authorities said.
The robbery occurred about 5:35 p.m. in the 300 block of North Canon Drive, between Wilshire and Santa Monica boulevards, said Beverly Hills police Sgt. T. West.

The suspect, described as a man in his 20s, displayed a handgun and demanded property from a man on the street, said Beverly Hills police Lt. Elizabeth Albanese.
The suspect took the man’s jewelry and ran. No one was hurt, West said.
Officers responded to the location immediately and located the suspect inside a store in the 200-block of N. Beverly, Beverly Hills police said in a news release. He ran from police out of the rear of the store.
Streets were closed off and stores were on lockdown during the search.
“Sometime during his attempt to escape, the suspect fired at least one round from the firearm,” the release said.
The man was ultimately located in the 200 block of the north alley between Beverly and Canon about 8:30 p.m. and taken into custody, Albanese said.
His name was withheld pending booking.
