18 displaced as Orange County firefighters douse house fire in Santa Ana
A house fire in Santa Ana displaced 18 people and damaged the kitchen of the home after starting on the back patio Saturday, April 11, authorities said.
Orange County firefighters were dispatched to the 1300 block of McFadden Avenue, near Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, just before 9:25 a.m., Capt. Greg Barta said.
Firefighters found the home’s occupants, 10 children and eight adults, standing outside when they arrived. Firefighters knocked down the blaze in about 21 minutes, Barta said.

The cause of the fire was believed to be an electrical failure of a refrigerator on the back patio, Barta said.
A cost estimate of the damage was not immediately known. Neither firefighters nor the home’s occupants were injured during the fire.
