Woman hit and killed by pickup while crossing street in Garden Grove

A woman died in Garden Grove on Wednesday morning after she was hit by a pickup truck while crossing the street.

The Garden Grove Police Department said its officers and the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the intersection of Valley View Street and Lampson Avenue at around 6:45 a.m. after getting a call about a pedestrian-involved crash in the area.

Police said the driver of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado made a right turn to head east and the vehicle crashed into 64-year-old Laura White, of Garden Grove. White was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 39-year-old man, stayed at the scene after the crash, authorities said.

“The driver was evaluated by officers and showed no signs of impairment,” police said. “The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the collision.”
