Santa Ana motorcyclist killed, 2 hurt in 605 Freeway crash in Norwalk

by in News

A motorcyclist died and two drivers suffered injuries Wednesday after the motorcycle hit an overturned car that was involved in an earlier crash on the northbound 605 Freeway in Norwalk.

The motorcyclist, identified by authorities as John Godoy, 62, of Santa Ana, died in the 5 a.m. crash north of Alondra Boulevard.

Before that crash occurred, a Lexus sport-utility vehicle and a Toyota Prius collided on the northbound 605, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Armando Perdomo said. The Prius hit the center divider and ended up in the carpool lane on its side.

The SUV was also in the carpool lane, ahead of the Prius.

A motorcycle hit the underside of the overturned Prius, Perdomo said. The Prius then slid and struck the driver of the SUV who was standing outside and suffered moderate injuries, he said. The driver of the SUV had been assisting the driver of the Prius when the collision occurred, according to a CHP report.

The driver of the Prius complained of pain, Perdomo said, adding that the two women were taken to a hospital.

Paramedics pronounced Godoy dead at the scene.
