by in News

A 54-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Huntington Beach on Friday was identified Sunday, June 28 by the Orange County coroner’s office.

Preliminary investigation showed the 66-year-old driver of a gray 2018 Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on Warner Avenue when the vehicle struck David Stame, according to Sgt. Matthew Austin of the Huntington Beach Police Department and the coroner’s office. He was crossing northbound at Bolsa Chica Street near Warner at about 11:05 p.m.

Officers responded to the intersection and found Stame suffering from extensive injuries. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Austin said.

Neither alcohol nor other drugs were considered factors in the crash. It was unclear whether Stame was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash.

The coroner’s office has not listed a city of residence for Stame.

Anyone who witnessed the crash was asked to call Traffic Investigator D. Demetre at 714-536-5670.
