2 dead: Plane that crashed registered to El Segundo man
Two people were found dead today near Rialto Airport in the wreckage of a light twin-engine plane registered to an El Segundo man.
The plane departed from Henderson, Nev., on Monday for Compton Airport, but was found crashed in San Bernardino County, FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.
The names of the dead were not immediately released.
Records show the Cessna 340 was registered to Everett R. Arinwine, owner of F&E Aircraft Maintenance, which has an office at 531 Main St.
A family member of one of the people on board reported on Wednesday that the plane was overdue, Gregor said.
Search crews found the wreckage around 1:50 a.m. today about six miles north northwest of the Rialto Airport, Gregor said.
“Both people on board were killed and the aircraft was destroyed,” Gregor said.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.
F&E Aircraft Maintenance Corporation also has offices in Doral, Fla. It has been in business since 1991.
A woman who answered the phone in El Segundo said the company had no comment.
