Oriental Trading Compoany Face Paint Recalled
“Face Paint Causes Rashes and Burning on Kids”
Beware at school carnivals and amusement parks, parents.
The FDA this week warned that cosmetic face paint distributed by Oriental Trading Co. the kind commonly used to paint kids faces at school carnivals and fairs is being recalled because its been reported to cause adverse skin reactions in children.
The face paint was distributed nationwide, and the FDA says a cluster of cases where the paint caused rashes, itchiness , swelling and burning were reported.
The FDA tested the paint, made in Shanghai, and found significant microbial contamination.
The following face paints are being recalled by Fun Express Inc., a subsidiary of Oriental Trading Co.:
Blue Face Paint, UPC 8 8760048110 7, item number 85/2077
Purple Face Paint, UPC 8 8760048112 1, item number 85/2078
Red Face Paint, UPC 8 8760048114 5, item number 85/2079
Orange Face Paint, UPC 8 8760048116 9, item number 85/2080
Black Face Paint, UPC 8 8760048118 3, item number 85/2081
Green Face Paint, UPC 8 8760048120 6, item number 85/2082
Consumers should stop using these paints and either throw them away or return them to the retailer where they bought them.
The FDA is also reminding consumers that they can report adverse events with the products they use to local, state and federal health authorities.
