LAKE FOREST A 51-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after a two-vehicle crash at Portola Parkway and Pauling.
The man, who was driving a Chrysler sedan, was pronounced dead at Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, according to Lt. Ted Boyne of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Boyne said the man’s name would be released pending notification of family.
The crash occurred at 12:28 p.m., when the Chrysler and a Nissan Altima collided, causing officers to shut down southbound lanes on Portola Parkway from Lake Forest Drive to Pauling.
The lanes were reopened about 5:45 p.m. and the cause of the crash was being investigated, police said.
“It appears someone went through a red light,” Boyne said. “It doesn’t appear that alcohol was involved.”
Boyne said the driver of the other vehicle, a 56-year-old woman from Foothill Ranch, was treated for minor injuries.
