Christina El Moussa of ‘Flip or Flop’ buys gated home in Newport Beach for $4.1 million
Christina El Moussa not only has a new HGTV reality show, she also has a new home — a nearly 5,000-square-foot spread in Newport Beach.
After selling her five-bedroom, 6,366-square-foot Yorba Linda house for $2.925 million in May, she paid $4.1 million for the Newport Beach residence in an off-market deal, according to the Multiple Listing Service and other records.
Set behind two gates, the house has four bedrooms and four bathrooms. The expansive backyard includes an outdoor kitchen and sun deck, along with a swimming pool and spa.
The house is less than a mile from the Costa Mesa home that ex-husband and “Flip or Flop” partner Tarek El Moussa bought in February.
Built in 1999 and extensively remodeled in 2016, Christina’s new home has its own high profile. It was on the Newport Harbor Home Tour, and there’s also an HGTV connection: The house won a prize in the network’s contest for “best bedroom and bathroom,” states a 2017 listing.
Obviously, those accolades aren’t expected to keep El Moussa, who just got a new home design show, “Christina on the Coast,” from putting her signature on it.
The house, meanwhile, is at the center of a legal drama. A beneficiary to the seller’s estate objected to the sale, according to a petition filed June 18 in Orange County probate court. Neither Christina El Moussa nor the real estate agents were named as defendants in the filing notice.
The 2017 listing said the residence has the feel of a “personal resort.”
It described a chef’s kitchen with professional-grade appliances and an oversized island opening to a large great room and living and dining areas.
Additional selling points included the master’s retreat with high ceilings, French doors facing the backyard and a staircase leading to a loft. Also touted were a walk-in shower with dual shower heads and a standalone soaking tub.
Scott Cappelli and Jon Curci of First Team Estates/Christie’s International Real Estate were the listing agents on the recent sale; Andrew Cotton of Compass represented Christina.
El Moussa’s new show is slated to air in early 2019.
