Santa Ana police pursuit ends with crash, suspect killed in officer-involved shooting in Westminster
WESTMINSTER — A man fleeing Santa Ana police Sunday night crashed a vehicle in Westminster and was shot and killed when he produced a gun, authorities said.
The pursuit began about 10 p.m. in Santa Ana, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said. He did not know the exact location where it started and the reason police tried to stop the vehicle.
The suspect threw a gun out of the vehicle at First and Newhope streets, Bertagna said. He continued into Westminster, where he crashed at Bolsa Avenue and Valencia Place.
“He continues to flee with a second gun and an officer-involved shooting occurs,” Bertagna said.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
