Coastal communities will participate in Relay for Life on Saturday

Hundreds of residents from Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, Aliso Viejo and San Clemente are expected to take part in the Coastal Communities Relay For Life on Saturday, July 28 at Jim Johnson Memorial Sports Park in San Clemente.

Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, the event includes a 3-Point Shooting Contest and a Team 2-Mile Relay Race, silent auction, resources, food,  entertainment, and the event highlight, the Luminaria Ceremony. Cancer survivors will once again kick off the event at 10 a.m. with the opening lap.

Funds raised will go toward cancer research, services for cancer patients and education and prevention programs. Guests will include Sheriff-Coroner Sandra Hutchins and Undersheriff Don Barnes, local and county government officials, and Capistrano Unified Board of Trustees
