Patriotism and painting come together in Fullerton Arboretum class
“Art is not about perfection,” said Fullerton artist Dina Mabe as she guided about 20 adults at the Fullerton Arboretum earlier this summer in painting a Fourth of July-inspired still life.
Mabe was conducting the third of four classes she taught in the arboretum’s Paint Parties series, in which beginning artists learned step by step how to paint a specific painting. On June 24, the painting was “Summer Geraniums in Patriotic Tins.”
Canvas, paints, brushes and apron were included in the class fee.
Students said the picturesque landscape and cool breeze enhanced their experience. The arboretum is on the Cal State Fullerton campus.
The Paint Party series continues this fall. Other classes at the arboretum, which are open to the public, can be found at fullertonarboretum.org.
