Westminster police officer injured by suspected drunken driver’s car
WESTMINSTER – A suspected drunken driver plowed his car into a police officer and a squad car, at the scene of an earlier crash in Westminster today.
The officer received minor injuries, a Westminster police spokesperson said.
Officers were in the street at Beach Boulevard at Trask Avenue a little before 4:20 a.m. Sunday, directing traffic around a routine traffic crash investigation, said Westminster police Sgt. Phuong Pham.
The officer was injured while standing next to his patrol car, Pham said. The officer and the suspected drunken motorist were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The California Highway Patrol was handling the arrest of the suspected drunken motorist, he said.
