Sandcastles contest takes over the beach at Corona del Mar

by in News

The beach is the canvas, the artwork made of sand.

Teams hustled at Corona del Mar on Sunday, making sure their sand didn’t get too dry, or their masterpieces didn’t crumble, while racing the clock.

The 57th annual sandcastle contest drew spectators to the stretch of Newport Beach to see the elaborate designs built through the afternoon, with teams hoping to win bragging rights and prizes for their creations.

This year’s theme: “Have a Ball.”
