Crews work to contain structure fire in Santa Fe Springs

by in News

Fire crews raced to contain a fire at a commercial building in Santa Fe Springs on Wednesday evening.

Tracy Gonzales, spokeswoman for the Downey Fire Department, said crews responded at about 4:35 p.m. and that 30 fire engines and trucks were on the scene in the 9600 block of John Street.

Gonzalez said that there was no indication as to what caused the fire, nor was there an estimated time when she believed the fire would be put out.

“We’re taking defensive measures and trying to stop the fire from spreading right now,” she said.

Gonzalez said she wasn’t aware of any injuries caused by the fire.

“We haven’t had anyone go en-route to the hospital,” she said. “There are no injuries.”

The Los Angeles County, La Habra Heights, Compton, Vernon and Santa Fe Springs fire departments were assisting with the fire.
