Booooo! Vote for your favorite scarecrow in Mission Viejo
More than a dozen scarecrows will welcome visitors for the next couple weeks at the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center in Mission Viejo.
The city is hosting its second annual scarecrow contest through Nov. 2.
And people can vote on the city’s website for their favorite or funniest scarecrow, or even a scarecrow that’s mostly likely to haunt people at night.
There are four categories: Most Humorous, Spookiest, Best Traditional and People’s Choice. Winners of the first three categories will get $300, and the People’s Choice winner will get $500. Mission Viejo Friends of the Arts donated the prizes.
The city’s schools and community organizations designed the scarecrows.
Mission Viejo will announce the winners Nov. 5.
Andrew Fine, the city’s community services manager, said the city wants to get 30 scarecrows for next year. To participate in the contest next year, e-mail Fine at afine@cityofmissionviejo.org.
