24-year-old suspected of DUI in Garden Grove crash
GARDEN GROVE — A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving following a fiery single vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Garden Grove.
Police were called about 1:10 a.m. to the intersection of Euclid and Main streets and found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames south of the intersection, according to Sgt. J. Delgado of the Garden Grove Police Department.
Investigators determined the motorist was traveling south on Euclid Street and lost control of the vehicle at Main Street, where he slammed into a light pole, street light and bus stop bench, he said.
The driver and two men in the vehicle were able to help each other out of the vehicle and each was treated at the scene by Garden Grove Fire Department paramedics, Delgado said. One of the passengers sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital.
The driver made statements at the scene regarding his impairment while driving and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, he said.
Any witnesses who may have seen the crash were asked to call the Garden Grove Police Department’s traffic unit at (714) 741-5823.
