Half-billion dollar LAX Terminal 1 renovation celebrated by local leaders

LOS ANGELES — Mayor Eric Garcetti and other leaders will celebrate the unveiling of the new Terminal 1 at Los Angeles International Airport Friday following a half-billion dollar renovation.

The upgrades were funded by Southwest Airlines and Los Angeles World Airports and include new dining and retail options.

L.A. City Councilman Joe Buscaino, Board of Airport Commissioner Vice President Val Velasco, LAWA CEO Deborah Flint and Southwest CEO Gary Kelly are expected to be at the 9:30 a.m. event, which will include a ribbon cutting, news conference and reception.
