Homicide detectives investigate death in Whittier

WHITTIER – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the discovery of a dead body in a parked vehicle in Whittier, authorities said.

The deceased person was found in the backseat of a vehicle in the driveway of a residence in the 8700 block of Orange Street at 9:05 p.m. Saturday, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The deputies were responding to a “check the welfare” call for a woman who lives at the location, Koerner said.

The race and gender of the victim as well as the cause of death is unknown at this time.
