After a little more than five years with Chino Hills, City Manager Konradt “Rad” Bartlam has announced he will retire March 31.

“I’m proud of the work we have accomplished,” Bartlam is quoted as saying in a city press release. “I know I’m leaving the city in good hands, thanks to our great team of employees who are dedicated to making Chino Hills the best it can be.”

Bartlam became Chino Hills’ fourth city manager in February 2014. He previously served as city manager of Lodi and had worked for Baldwin Park, Glendora, Simi Valley, Pomona and Brea.

“The city council has appreciated Rad’s sharp focus on the city’s long-term financial health,” Mayor Cynthia Moran is quoted as saying in the city’s press release. “Our city is on a solid financial course thanks to his leadership and guidance.”

Moran praised Bartlam’s efforts to fight the City of Industry’s proposed solar farm at the 2,450-acre Tres Hermanos Ranch between Diamond Bar and Chino Hills, along with work done to improve traffic issues on Carbon Canyon Road.

The Chino Hills City Council will discuss replacing Bartlam at an upcoming meeting. The council’s next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 22 at Chino Hills City Hall, 14000 City Center Drive.
