A Santa Ana woman has been identified as one of two people who died in a traffic collision Jan. 21 in Vista in San Diego County.
Maria del Carmen Rodriguez, 48, suffered several injuries upon impact in the 6:30 p.m. crash on Highway 76. She died shortly afterward, the San Diego County Coroner’s Office said. The other person who died, a woman who was in the same car, has not been publicly identified. She also died at the scene.
A man who also was in that car was hospitalized with major injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.
Three people from Temecula were involved in the four-vehicle crash but were not reported injured, the CHP said.
The crash happened about 6:30 p.m. A man was driving a Chevrolet Silverado about 45 mph when approaching traffic that was just starting through an intersection after the traffic light turned green. The Chevrolet struck the Hyundai Sonata in which Rodriguez was riding, the CHP said. The Hyundai was pushed into a Mazda CX-5, which was pushed into a Ford Fusion.
The collision was under investigation, the CHP said.
