Hello sweet tooth — the 2019 Girl Scout cookies arrive in O.C.
Door-to-door and online Girl Scout cookie sales begin Sunday, Jan. 27, but the boxes don’t just get into the hands of Orange County’s scouting community by chance.
That happened Saturday, when representatives from about 700 local Girl Scout troops stocked up on 1.4 million boxes of cookies at two area distribution locations – the Anaheim Business Complex and Saddleback Church in Lake Forest.
There will be nine cookie varieties to tempt buyers this year, including the new Gluten-Free Caramel Chocolate Chip. They will join the returning Thin Mints, S’mores Cookies, Caramel DeLites, Peanut Butter Patties, Peanut Butter Sandwich, Shortbread, Leomandes and Thanks-a-Lots.
Cookies will sell for $5 a box, with all net revenue supporting Girl Scouts of Orange County. In 2018, Orange County troops sold about 2.5 million boxes.
Sales outside of retail stories will begin Feb. 15, with the program continuing through March 10.
