The individual — whose name, age and gender were not immediately available — was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Capt. Larry Kurtz of the Orange County Fire Authority.
The fatal collision temporarily stopped Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner traffic and prompted the cancellation of two Metrolink trains — Train 644 operating from Fullerton to Oceanside and Train 645 operating from Laguna Niguel to Fullerton — on Metrolink’s Orange County Line, a Metrolink spokesman said.
OC Line 644 to Oceanside is cancelled due to Amtrak train 591 striking a person near the tracks. Update to follow.
