A six-vehicle collision in La Habra left one person dead and several others injured on Sunday, Feb. 10.

Alcohol or drug impairment may have played a role in the crash, the La Habra Police Department said in a statement.

The crash happened at 7:09 p.m. near the intersection of West Lambert Road and South Idaho Street, said Los Angeles County Fire Capt. John Butorovich. He said one person was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision and six others were hurt.

Firefighters removed two individuals from the wreckage of their vehicles, said Butorovich. Information on the extent of the injuries to all involved was not immediately available.

In a statement, the police department said a vehicle traveling eastbound on Lambert hit another vehicle travelingnorthbound on Idaho. One driver, in their late 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the police statement said. The identity of the person killed was not immediately made public.

The police traffic unit was investigating and said if witnesses have information about the collision, they can contact the department at 562 383-4300 and ask to speak to a traffic investigator.
