Man hospitalized for weeks after Huntington Beach crash dies

A man who had been hospitalized for weeks died on Wednesday, Feb. 13, following a traffic collision that happened in Huntington Beach at the end of January

A preliminary investigation suggests that a Toyota Tundra traveling north on Brookhurst Street collided with a Cadillac Escalade at Atlanta Avenue shortly before 8:42 a.m., according to a news release from the Huntington Beach Police Department.

The 68-year-old driver of the truck was taken to UCI Medical center for treatment.

Investigators suspect he may not have been wearing a seatbelt, according to the release. The man died Wednesday at about 11:48.

The driver of the SUV was treated for minor injuries by Huntington Beach Fire Department paramedics at the scene of the crash and released.

Police want to speak to anyone who might have witnessed the events leading up to the crash. They have asked anyone with information relevant to the incident to call Investigator B. Atkins at 174-536-5666 or Officer R. Frahm at 714-536-5663.
